So it's been more then 10 days since the last entry and MAN a lot has happened! More shopping. Visited different malls. Been to New Friends Colony. Bought alot of baking needs and tools. Planned and completed a 3 tier wedding cake for my in laws 25th anniversary. The actual party, then back to malls and markets :D
So check out what we've been up to...
we LOVE paneer...big time favourite of ours...
this was dinner...yumm!!
funny guy enjoying his dinner :D
eating...with attitude :P
That day we were at a market, myself, Husbindian and Manisha (husbands sister cousin)
he's happy, not only is it paneer - but there are no veggies on his plate haha
this is the next day - my Husbindian, Manisha and I go to Lajpat Nagar...
to the market there...I call it lunchbox :P
all the pretty colours and fabrics...yes - the guy is telling me not to take
photos...too bad I did...
photos...too bad I did...
cables and people...
heaps of food stands at the market...it makes sense
fresh coconut...yumm!!
my handsome man about to make a purchase...
people everywhere...
this isn't rush hour...this is just how it is all the time...
KFC!
these were kumara cooked on a slow fire with the skin - then peeled in front of you,
then mixed in a bowl with freshly squeezed lime, masala, salt and pepper and something else I think.
Served in this lil' plate with toothpicks! This was tangy but soo good! The Kumara cooked to
perfection! This was a snack while on a shopping mission!
After all the shopping was done - we find ourselves at McDeez!
just like home...but Indian - we are going to miss these burgers!
that night we get ready to go to dinner with family...
my men pozing...hahahaha love it! We went to Nirulas - Indian take out! It's been around
longer then McDeez and KFC came to India, more then 20years, the Husbindian reckons.
They didn't have mutton for the mutton burgers...but still an awesome place to dine!
the next day was a day to chill at home - then I was asked to go back to Lunch box with
my mother in law. We arrived about 5pm and only had a 1.5hour window to shop...
same ol' lunch box...love this market!
starting to get dark, people are switching on their lights...
you can just see the park where some kids were playing...
down one of the isles of shops...
Mama haggling...
the guy came down to her price...so she bought 10 pieces
heading down another isle...and running out of time...fast!
Mama is on the hunt for more items to buy...before we have to rush off to the car.
Found some good buys that night!
Next day...off to another market! We went with Manisha and her friend. Took 2 scooters
to the market! Started early that day...
We arrived when kids were coming out of school...I don't know why. School wasn't out...so
I have no idea why they're out. Possibly a half day?
mid-shopping. Bought alot of cool stuff at this market for my men...
being the FOB I am...this is what I bought! They are table mats...yay!!
back in a scooter...this time we are heading off to The Coffee Garage -
Bhabhi's Cafe (husbands elder brothers wife). We didn't eat lunch so we gave our shopping to
Manisha and her friend (because they were heading home) then headed out for our feed!
on the way to The Coffee Garage we saw this big azz bull just standing around. They all do.
It's soooo cool because they are untouchable. They just roam where they like. Even if they stop traffic...they are just so chill...love that! Obviously we were in the scooter so we were moving...
and didn't get his head :s
these guys were just standing here for some reason - cool uniform :D
the ambulance!! We were like....WHOA!!
This is Bhabhi in her cafe...
just some of the goodness!! They make the BOMB sandwiches and burgers here too!!
Love, love love it all!!!
Not the best photo taken of the table mat. Bhabhi, better known as Vanita - together
with her husband Rajan own a string of stores. It started with shoe stores called The Shoe Garage -
because it all started here in the garage at home!
LOVE this!! The hummus here is the bestest everrrrrrrrr!!
So after our feed - my Man and I were going to catch a scooter back home! Bhabhi and Rajan were about to meet to check out a venue for their 25th wedding anniversary. So they had us tag along to check it out...
HAREM is a beautiful place! Especially at night! Look at the pretty lights. The ambiance
was just amazing - as we walked through taking a closer look.
At one of the markets here, we saw these lanterns...I want to buy a stack and take them
home - but we can't!! BOO!
this was how the tables were set up - soooo lavish!!
lanterns...
& more lanterns...
saw this handsome guy just sitting around...thought I'd take his photo :P
pretty!
So...acouple days later... we are out sourcing ingredients for a cake for the anniversary. We
were stuck for a gift and well...everyone is richer then us...we can't just give them a hug and card...
that's lame! Bhabhi mentioned she was going to order a cake...so we put our hands up!
We are at the New Friends Colony, waiting for our appointment to purchase goods at the Culinary and cake decorating school. We come across a cafe...YUM!

Papi checking the time...
It was OKAY - would have been nicer with fresh cream...not the mock cream we got.
RRAAAAHHH!
OH - we don't waste a thing!!
So we get to the store...sourced the stuff we needed. The things they didn't have like flour etc we
had to get at Le Marche at the mall. It's a store that has international foods. We caught a scooter over - and arrive at the mall! At this location there are 3 malls!! So we are going to the one we hadn't been to!
cheese!
After shopping at Le Marche we headed home to try again with our new ingredients.
We just jumped into the scooter and stopped at the lights. We saw this lil' boy being bathed by his brother and sister. He was shouting with his eyes closed. He was all soaped up and I kept guessing what he was shouting about. His eyes?? He gets up and his brother on the right pushed him down again! He wasn't like in pain but just defiant. So he's shouting and gets up, I'm saying out loud...it's hot?? The brother pushes him down again, he gets up again...in frustration but laugh/crying and I say...IT'S COLD!! The Driver looks at me and cracks up...haha! That was soooo cute!!!
a wonky photo of a fruit stand while passing through...
some stores...
So we get home and get stuck into it. This is the oven we have here at home! It's about 9x9"
ingredients on the boil...
One cake out, the other is in. This is a 6" round cake. In the bowl on the left is chocolate frosting.
After cooling etc, here we have the finished product! Put the bananas to garnish. Not bad! Cocoa has a different taste...but it will do :)
The family enjoyed it and so we were given the all clear to get the cake made!! More to come...so much more to catch you up on! We are absolutely loving it here in India...wish you were here!!
